How to do the perfect DIY shave

Follow Kade’s step-by-step guide to shaving off your Movember tash…

Step 1

Make sure you’re in a well-lit room or have a bright light near you so you can see exactly what you’re doing. (You don’t want to be cutting your lip or nostril by mistake with your razor!) Comb your moustache through and use a pair of clippers or mini trimmers to shave the hair off.

Step 2

Moisten a flannel with hot water and place on your skin for a few minutes. This will open up your pores. Then rub shaving foam and hot water where the stubble is and, using a razor, come down with the grain of the hair. (Be careful not to nick your nostrils, lips or the corners of your mouth with the blade.)

Step 3

If your skin isn’t too sensitive, reapply the shaving foam and hot water, Then, using your razor, shave against the grain of the hair. This will leave you with a really smooth finish.

Step 4

Apply rubbing alcohol or a post shave product like Burban After-Shave Balm to clean any pores that opened up with the hot water. This will also stop any irritation.

Step 5

Moisten a flannel with cold water and place on your skin to close your pores.
