Trend alert:
The French bob
Looking for haircut ideas? It *might* be time for the chop...
It’s one of the most googled haircuts of 2020. So what is a French bob, who does the haircut suit and how easy is it to style at home? We caught up with Jack Merrick Thirlway, Creative Director at Neville Hair & Beauty to get the lowdown on this post-lockdown cult cut. He says, “The French bob started making a comeback earlier this year. It’s sexy hair, easy to manage and suits most hair types. And if you can’t get back to the salon for whatever reason, it’s a great cut for growing out.” All of which means it could be time to book in with your hairdresser…

What is a French bob?
Much shorter than your average bob, a French bob is jaw length (or higher) with a fringe. It’s been around since the 1920s and has been one of the most-requested cuts since the Covid-19 lockdown. It’s a statement look, so prepare to be bold. “The fringe should be on your eyebrows or just above”, says Jack.
What face shape does a French bob suit?
Jack says, “An oval face shape is best for this cut. The bob is jaw length, so if you have a wide jaw it might not be the right cut for you. It also might not work if you have a round face as fringes can be difficult to carry off.”
